The Gospel According to Food is an upcoming cookbook from CruPress built around 40 “edible metaphors,” using food and shared meals as a way to encourage community and conversation. I designed the book from concept through production, developing both the cover and interior design while working closely with the editor and author to translate a large volume of content into a cohesive, engaging reading experience.
The interior design balances substantial written content with strong photography, using typography, hierarchy, grids, and recurring layout structures to create a clear and approachable visual system. I developed the design to give each metaphor its own sense of visual identity while maintaining consistency across the book as a whole.
I also played a key role in art directing the photography that appears throughout the book. I collaborated with the photographers to establish the visual direction for the shoot and helped shape the imagery needed to support the book's editorial and visual goals.
From initial concept through final production, I managed the design and typesetting process and prepared the book for print, ensuring that the visual system, typography, imagery, and production details worked together as a cohesive finished publication.
